Overlapping worlds of sound, performance and text

A rare blend of eloquent lyrical craft and explorative, experimental musicianship, the musical world of Maija Sofia spans delicate folk, lustrous experimental pop and a deep devotion to mystery.

True Love - the new album

Returning after her critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Bath Time’ (2019), nominated for RTÉ Ireland’s Choice Music Prize, True Love will be released on TULLE in September 2023.

The album was written during a period of deep transformation in Maija’s life, when she left the city for the Cork coastline, living in solitude in a haunted 300 year old former-yacht club for three months. It was here that she reflected on the instability of her early twenties, and conjured an album full of exorcism and enchantment.

True Love is available to pre-order on standard black vinyl and as a limited edition blood red transparent vinyl with a set of temporary artwork tattoos.

Telling The Bees

The second single to be taken from True Love, ‘Telling The Bees’ was partially inspired by Irish Folklore, 14th Century Italian saint Rita of Cascia (the saint of Impossible Causes) and the lure and healing of the ocean.

Beautiful video directed by Anna Heisterkamp, with choreography from Siobhan O’Connor.
